Earth year.

Earth day came to a close and we truly hope you didn’t miss the sale you have been waiting for.

When did earth day become synonymous with sales? Isn’t it bad enough that we have about 54 other holidays purely dedicated to buying more stuff? Let’s save the planet by snagging a new sweater at 15% off.

We noticed some brands doubling down on their donations or tree-planting efforts for the day, but still all in line with more sales. Buy buy buy and then we’ll do more, but hurry up before the offer expires!

So, I want to iterate yet again, that unless you care for all 365 days of the year and communicate that fully through your brand at every touchpoint, internally and externally, no one is going to believe it.
Maybe you say, your products are that good, people are going to want them anyway, and maybe they secretly do and actually buy them for a while longer. But in the long run, unless a customer can truly identify what you stand for (from the way you speak to them or your employees to your packaging and marketing efforts) you won’t have much luck.

Transparency matters and commitment is key. You can show that in so many different ways. Even if you didn’t just create a fully biodegradable shoe out of algae (yes, yes they did!), you can show that you care and be clear about your values and live your mission.
