The Great Slow Down.

This feels like a slow summer to me, now that we are finally back home and cozied up in our new studio (almost), while regularly floating in the crystal clear, calm ocean. But it’s not only us taking more intentional steps these days, seemingly. Left and right we read about the Summer of the Pause, or Quiet Quitting. We usually don’t like jumping on those well-trodden paths, but noticing how people’s priorities shift and how more and more brands get on board with a more mindful, caring approach to production and sales feels inspiring and worth talking about.

We happily watched Mara Hoffman take her whole company on a week-long summer break, and just ate up a trend report about re-commerce replacing fast fashion. What sums this up best is that more and more people care. And that’s a good thing (and about time). Instead of buying and discarding cheap things, people want to make and also purchase items with value, that last. So they can resell them or even give them to the next generation. And we truly enjoy seeing more and more brands embracing this attitude and supporting the extended life-cycle of their products by facilitating those resell desires directly on their site. This, in turn, makes for a happy customer, more brand loyalty, and a sense of trust.

And they care about the well-being of the ones making and selling said items. Which has nothing to do with quitting or giving up, but instead shows a very healthy refocusing on what’s important and gives permission to care for oneself. Yes, and thank you. More of that, please.

How is your summer going?

Much Love, Tim & Lisa
